WORKING SIGNS SERIES: AN IMPRINT OF BLUE BEGONIA PRESS
Dan Peters and Doug Johnson begin this imprint combining computer technology and the hand-made book. These books are the result of a year-long study of the book, exploring the poem, exploring how the poem can become a book, and how the book can mirror the poem, using an interactive process that makes deep editing of the poem a reality.
The Working Signs Series, begun in 1998, initiates a series between poets that begins with their poems, and is only about their poems. It is an extended conversation solely devoted to helping the poem, and helping the poem make the manuscript become what it most wants to become in the world. The conversation, central to the poem, is the essential piece for the development of, and editing of, the poem. The book, aiming towards beauty, participates in the conversation, and is a natural result. This series of chapbooks makes available, and honors, life achievement work, as well as new work in poetry.
